    Multi-Skilled Engineer

Overview of responsibilities 

Hi, I’m Kenny and I’m a Multi-Skilled Engineer. My role focuses on getting void properties, which are homes that need preparing for customers, ready to a high standard. My work covers a bit of everything from painting, plastering, kitchens, bathrooms, and other repairs to bring properties back to life. 

Each job is different, which keeps the work varied and interesting. One day, I might be completely redecorating a property, and the next, I’m fitting a new kitchen or fixing smaller repairs. I cover all different areas across the West Midlands, so no two days are ever quite the same.  

How has your career progressed? 

I’ve been at Bromford for over nine years, and I started off as a tiler. For the first year, I focused on tiling jobs, but as time went on, I started taking on more varied tasks. Gradually, my role grew, and about four years ago, I became a Multi-Skilled Engineer. 

In recent months, I’ve also been able to move to shorter working days. I spoke to my leader about adjusting my hours to better fit around my family life, and Bromford were really supportive. It’s made a big difference to how I manage my time, and I can now drop and pick my children up from school.  

It’s not always easy finding a job where you can balance work and family, but at Bromford, it’s possible.

What do you consider the most significant benefit of working for Bromford? 

For me, the biggest benefit of working at Bromford is the flexibility. Moving to shorter working days has been a real game-changer, as it allows me to balance my job with childcare. This kind of understanding and adaptability has made a real difference to my life. It’s not always easy finding a job where you can balance work and family, but at Bromford, it’s possible. 

On top of that, the variety of work and support from my leader make Bromford a great place to work. Every day is different, and I’m proud of the work I do.
