“Hi there, I’m here today to talk about what happens if your power goes off in your house.”

“First thing to do is locate your fuse board, your fuse board will usually be located in a by the front door or in a cupboard underneath your stairs.”

“First thing to check on your fuse board is that all the switches are in the up position, if you come to your fuse board after a power outage and your RCD’s in the down position the first thing to do is put all the switches down, you then take hold of the RCD, press it down and then up, you can then positon all of your switches into the on position and hopefully your power will be back on.”

“Now if when you turn your MCB on your RCD trips out if you look below or above where it’s labelled and you can find out where the fault is.”

“Once you’ve identified the fault area in this case the kitchen you can come in and turn it off and unplug every appliance, you then reset the fuse board as we’ve already shown you, come back in here and turn on each appliance individually, when you’ve reached the faulty appliance your fuse board will trip again and you’ll know you’ve identified the fault.”
