Bromford has won a 'Sustainable Homes Index for Tomorrow' (SHIFT) silver award for its contribution to the environment . Bromford currently owns and manages around 27,000 homes across central England.
SHIFT is recognised as a leading environmental benchmark by the Homes and Communities Agency, the WWF-UK, Greater London Authority, the UK Green Building Council and others.
It helps members become more sustainable by providing a framework for improvement and offers a UK-wide support network with access to expertise and guidance. Members share best practice and aim to lower their carbon footprint. SHIFT currently represents over one million homes and has a substantial influence in the housing sector.
Julie Walker, head of neighbourhoods at Bromford, said: "Bromford takes its environmental credentials very seriously and is proud that SHIFT has again recognised the contribution we make. Being a part of SHIFT gives us the opportunity to share best practice, learn from our peers and ultimately to make a positive difference to the environment. This latest award recognises the great progress we have made in reducing the environmental impacts of our existing homes."
Bromford has already been granted an award from SHIFT in 2010 for its 'homes that don't breakdown' approach to asset management.
