Are you anxiety aware?

From depression and anxiety to schizophrenia and eating disorders, mental health takes many forms. These conditions are not always obvious and many people do not understand how those living with poor mental health feel or how they cope on a daily basis.

Raising awareness of anxiety in particular is one of the aims of the Mental Health Foundation during Mental Health Awareness Week which takes place between 12-18 May 2014.

In support of this, Bromford will be posting blogs, information and customer stories to help raise awareness about anxiety and promote positive mental health.

According to the Mental Health Foundation 1 in 4 of us in the UK will experience a mental health problem such as anxiety or depression and in 2011, over 13 million working days were lost due to stress, depression and anxiety.

Colleagues at Bromford will be getting involved too with mental health awareness courses taking place throughout the week to help identify and reduce any anxiety that they may be feeling. These courses will also help colleagues to recognise the signs of mental health which will allow them to help customers, friends and family too.

The key to raising awareness and reducing the stigma attached to mental health is to talk about it, so please get involved during the coming week. Share the stories, tips and information on how to look after your mental health with friends and family - maybe even share your own story if it helps.
