Jobs have been created at a new multi-million pound retirement living scheme in Banbury, as a new care provider was appointed to offer around-the-clock support to residents.

Bromford has announced a partnership with Radis Community Care at its new £12m retirement living village for over 55s, Park Gardens, which will be officially opened on Thursday 10th October. Around a dozen full and part-time employment opportunities have been generated by the 78-bedroom Bath Road development, which is situated adjacent to People’s Park on land previously belonging to Banbury and Bicester College.

Radis will offer tailored care packages for customers requiring support and this will be provided on a 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week basis. An emergency response service, and a menu of additional services such as assisting residents with shopping, laundry and dog walking, is also available.

Chefs Sarah Hicks and Claire Cox both have 35 years’ experience in catering with the former working for the Roux brothers at London’s Royal Albert Hall in years gone by. Their business Yumdiddles will occupy the café bistro at Park Gardens where residents and the wider public can expect locally-sourced produce with freshly-made cuisine served by the pair and their front-of-house team. It will open every day, including for Sunday lunch, as well as an extended dinner service on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

In the onsite hair and beauty salon, local entrepreneur Rebekkah O’Neill, 21, has decided to expand her business The Orchard. It will cater for men and women’s treatments for five days-a-week, offering walk-ins on a Monday and appointments thereafter. And personal trainer and fitness therapist Matthew Varney, of R3BALANCE Fitness, will run weekly classes utilising the activity studio and gymnasium which is fully stocked with the latest training equipment.

Bespoke

Retirement living business manager, Helen Shields, said: “Radis offer bespoke services tailored to the individual which fits with our own ethos of building trusting relationships with each and every Bromford customer.

“Retirement living schemes like Park Gardens, with its array of on-site facilities and optional care and support packages, provide a real sense of reassurance and security when thinking about the future care needs of loved ones and we firmly believe independent living offers a far better alternative to residential care. The new businesses will add to the vibrancy and energy of this community for customers and the wider community to enjoy.”

Paula Hoggarth, group operations director at Radis, added: “We are really excited to be working in partnership with Bromford at this fantastic new state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Banbury. We’re an established family-run care provider and pride ourselves on delivering high quality care to those people we support.”
