The first customers of a new specialist housing scheme for people with autism and learning disabilities have started moving in this week.

Arden Place is a new multi-million pound housing scheme opened by us in Tile Cross. The two-storey building contains 14 self-contained one-bedroom apartments, office and communal hub which will host activities, training and employment advice sessions for residents. Outside there’s a communal garden for residents to enjoy.

We're working with specialist adult support provider Bethphage to provide support for customers living at Arden Place. All customers receive support tailored to their needs following an assessment.

Housing enabler Claire Parker said: “We’re delighted to have opened our latest MyPlace scheme here in Birmingham. Arden Place provides a safe and secure home for people with autism and learning disabilities to live independently in their own home, within a small, friendly community where they can truly thrive.

“Our in-house construction team have done a brilliant job creating bright, attractive apartments which we know our new customers will feel right at home in. Working together with Bethphage our goal is to provide quality, personalised support to meet the needs of all our customers over the months and years ahead.”

The scheme is close to local shops and healthcare facilities and the Disability Resource Centre, a charity run by disabled people which offers a variety of services that our customers will be able to use, is just a short distance away.

There are still spaces available at Arden Place if you or someone you know is looking for a place to live independently with support. If you already have a care package in place, then you can contact us and request a referral.

If you don’t already have a care package, then your first step will be to get in touch the social work team at your local authority so they can carry out a needs assessment. Once you have this you can then contact us to request a referral.
