Our latest development of 42 new affordable homes has been given the green light after securing planning permission.

Now we're putting in plans to start work on the site off of Grange Road early next year. The development will be a mix of 22 two and three bedroom homes, plus 20 one and two bedroom flats overlooking the Dudley Canal. The land has been empty since The Wharf pub, which closed in 2005, was demolished in 2008. A new access road will be built to the site by demolishing 12 Grange Road. The existing footbridge over the canal to Station Road will be retained, although it will be closed during building work.

Senior land manager Nathan Deen said: “The site has been empty for a long time so we’re delighted that Sandwell District Council has given us the go-ahead to build these new affordable homes in Cradley Heath. There’s a real need for more affordable housing in the area and we’re confident these new homes will make a positive contribution to the local community.”

We will be building the homes itself, using our in-house construction team, as part of our ongoing housebuilding programme. In 2018 we announced plans to build 14,000 new homes over the next ten years and have completed 2,300 homes so far, with plans to build a further 1,350 over the next 12 months.
