Bromford has been named the best in the industry for its approach to efficiency and value for money in the 2017 HANA Awards, run by the National Housing Federation (NHF).
The Housing Association National Accountancy Awards celebrate the “most innovative and progressive finance teams and professionals” in the social housing sector and are held on an annual basis. During the lunchtime ceremony in London on Thursday, and after fending off strong competition from the likes of Poplar HARCA and Broadacres Housing Association, Bromford were chosen as winners of this year’s ‘Efficiency and Value for Money’ award.
The panel of judges were impressed by Bromford’s robust and controlled approach to spending and its commitment to putting data driven development at the heart of its operations. In the last financial year Bromford registered a post-tax record surplus of £49m with a core operating margin of 43 per cent, believed to be among the best in the sector.
Lee Gibson, Bromford’s executive director of finance, said: “This is brilliant recognition for so many colleagues and customers who have been at the very forefront of helping us test and shape our new approach to services and building homes. It also cements our belief that profit, commerciality and strong financial performance do not have to be compromised by investing in our most important assets – our customers – or indeed by having a social purpose.”
Director of business planning, Sue Harrison, added: “It was really great to see the finance team recognised for the work they do in bringing our efficiency and value for money stories to life. The real winners are our customers and the judges really liked our ‘profit for purpose’ approach demonstrating how we invest in our customers and their homes.”
It marks the second award win this week for Bromford after also being named ‘Employer of the Year’ at Monday’s inaugural West Midlands Awards 2017 run by Creative Oceanic.
