Involved customer, Roger Chilcott, has been recognised at the South Gloucestershire Community Awards for his remarkable impact in supporting social housing tenants and strengthening relationships between communities and landlords.
Roger has been an involved customer for over 20 years and is a long-standing advocate for social housing. He has worked tirelessly to remove the stigma around social housing, ensuring tenants have a voice and receive high-quality services.
Speaking about his award, Roger, said: “It’s an absolute honour to be recognised, especially alongside a grassroots group like King’s Forest. I never expected to achieve what I have in over 20 years as an involved tenant, but it’s been the best thing I’ve ever done - better than any of my work jobs. It’s all about helping people and making a difference.”
Roger’s dedication to tenant advocacy began with South Gloucestershire Council, continuing through Merlin and now Bromford. His unwavering commitment has shaped the way housing associations work alongside their customers to improve services and create stronger communities.
Leading the King’s Forest Community Action Group, Roger has played a pivotal role in empowering fellow tenants and making a real difference in his community.
Robert Nettleton, chief executive officer for Bromford, praised Roger’s contributions: “Roger has been an involved customer for over 20 years, and his unique views and contribution to customer involvement has, and continues to be, enormous. This recognition is truly well deserved.”
Reflecting on his journey, Roger added: “This recognition means so much to me because being an involved tenant has been a huge part of my life. Over the years, I’ve worked with so many great people. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together, and I’m not done yet — there are still a few more miles left in the tank!”
Roger’s award highlights the impact that dedicated individuals can make. His legacy of championing tenant voices and improving social housing services will continue to inspire others for years to come.
