As part of our ongoing commitment to creating cleaner, safer communities, we've invested in a state-of-the-art graffiti removal machine.

This small but powerful tool will enable us to swiftly and efficiently remove stubborn marks on walls and floors in hard-to-reach areas around our properties, particularly in areas like Staple Hill where customers have expressed concerns about anti-social behaviour.

Customers were able to do this through our place-based approach, that we launched back in August. A team of 16 colleagues, including neighbourhood coaches, engineers, and landscapers, are now empowered to work together to solve local issues quickly and efficiently. This approach gives the team the flexibility to try new solutions and improve the community.

This new piece of equipment is a significant investment and shows that the improved communication and engagement is working, generating faster responses to local issues.

Why is this important?

  • enhanced community appearance: a clean and well-maintained environment can significantly improve the overall look and feel of our communities

  • reduced anti-social behaviour: by addressing graffiti promptly, we can deter further vandalism and create a less inviting environment for those who engage in anti-social behaviour

  • customer satisfaction: our customers have consistently highlighted the importance of a clean and safe living environment. This investment demonstrates our commitment to meeting those needs

How will it help?

This new powerful hand-held machine will help us:

  • swiftly remove stubborn marks: even in hard-to-reach areas on walls and floors

  • improve response times: by bringing cleaning services in-house, we can provide a speedier service, better value for money and more control over the quality of our work

What our team thinks:

Kevin Johnson, Cleaning, Waste and Pest Control Programme Manager: "This is a significant investment for us and will bring cleaning into the 21st century. We're taking back lots of the services that would normally be contracted out, so we get more value for money and more control over what we do. It also gives colleagues the chance to train so they can progress through the cleaning directorate."

As we continue to implement our Place-Based approach, this new machine will be a valuable asset in maintaining and improving our customer’s homes and communities.
