Burntwood residents have been giving their views on a regeneration project that will lead to the construction of 18 new affordable homes in the town.

Residents and neighbours of the properties we are seeking to redevelop in Cedar Road were invited to a public consultation event at Burntwood library on Tuesday, along with local councillors and members of the public. It was a chance for everyone to have a look at the plans for the 18 homes we are planning to build to replace the six existing properties and block of garages spread across three sites.

Anyone who was unable to attend the consultation event but would like to view and comment on our plans can do so on our Cedar Road regeneration page. The consultation closes on 31 July.

Project manager Millie Nicholls said:

It was great to see and speak to so many people at the consultation. There was a lot of interest in our proposals for the properties and garage site and we’ll now review any feedback before finalising the plans and submitting them to Lichfield District Council.

The properties we are seeking to redevelop were built using non-traditional methods in the period after the Second World War as a quick solution to the housing shortage the country was facing at the time. Over the years the condition of these types of PRC properties has deteriorated and they frequently suffer from issues with damp and draughts. After assessing their condition we decided that the best option was to invest in building new energy-efficient homes to replace them.
