MyPlace information

You can always get in touch with us, but here's some information about our MyPlace schemes.

Who MyPlace is for

You can live at MyPlace if you have a learning disability, or have a long-term mental health diagnosis. You will need an assessed need for care and support from your local authority.

Each of our MyPlace schemes are different – please have a chat with the Bromford colleague at the scheme you're interested in to find out more.

How long you can stay at MyPlace

MyPlace offers you a safe and secure home for as long as you need it. When you move in you’ll be given a tenancy agreement and everything you need to know will be explained to you.

Bills will you have to think about

As a tenant you will be responsible for all the bills at your property. You will need to pay the rent and service charge. Some or all of this may be covered by housing benefit and we will work with you to apply for this. You will also need to pay:

  • council tax
  • TV licence
  • gas, water and electricity bills
  • any TV and internet subscriptions

Affording to live at MyPlace

Before you move in to MyPlace, we’ll go through your finances with you to make sure that you can afford to live here.

How long it takes to apply for a home

This changes all the time depending on how my customers we have. The best thing to do is to contact the MyPlace scheme you’re interested in and have a chat with Bromford’s housing enabler.

On-site carers

This is different for everyone and will depend on your care package. Night support could be provided if needed.

Building security

Yes, the main entrance has an intercom system, enabling you to only allow who you want into the building. Every apartment has its own lockable front door and the outside of the building is covered by CCTV.

Visitors

Your MyPlace apartment is your home so of course you can have visitors, and they can stay overnight. We do need to consider all of our customers living at MyPlace so all we ask is that you let us know who is visiting and how long they’ll be staying with you for.

A note for local authorities

As well as the many advantages to individuals, MyPlace also offers a solution to local authorities who are looking for cost effective ways to ensure vulnerable people get the care and support they need.

The aim of MyPlace is about raising aspirations by providing someone with a learning or physical disability or mental health needs the chance to take control of their life, live independently, harness opportunities and reduce dependency - essentially inspiring them to be their best.

Designed and built by Bromford’s experienced in-house construction team. Bromford's MyPlace schemes provide well-appointed, self-contained one bedroom apartments for people with long term conditions.
