We've secured planning permission for our biggest-ever land-led site in Gloucestershire.

Last month Tewkesbury Borough Council finalised its approval for the construction of 100 new homes at our 16.8 acre site at Delavale Road in Winchcombe. The development will comprise 50 affordable homes for rent and shared ownership and 50 homes which will be sold outright. Homes will range in size from one-bedroom flats to five-bedroom houses, some of which will have dedicated home office space to encourage flexible working. A number of new trees will be planted across the site, which also includes a play area, while a new pedestrian and cycle link will be created to link the new homes to nearby Mercia Road.

With its location in the heart of the Cotswolds, the village is a very desirable place to live. By providing 50% affordable housing on the site, this development will give more local people the opportunity to stay living in the area who otherwise couldn’t afford to live in the town.

“This is the biggest site we have purchased so far and forms part of our strategy of increasing the amount of land we buy and develop ourselves. We have a strong pipeline of sites that we are currently drawing up plans for or in negotiations to purchase. We’re still keen to work with partners to build new homes but developing our own sites increases the control we have on a site.”

The new homes at Winchcombe will be built by our in-house construction team, with work due to get underway in May 2023. The homes should be completed by summer 2026.

We're one of the country’s biggest homebuilding housing associations, having completed nearly 2,500 homes over the past two years. For the past two years we have been England’s biggest builder of homes for social rent*. Over the next seven years we aim to complete a further 11,000 homes across the West Midlands and West of England. We currently own 46,000 homes, including 11,000 in Gloucestershire.
