What attracted you to Bromford’s graduate scheme?

I graduated in 2021 and was working as a business development consultant in sales but I wanted to use my degree and get into IT. That had always been the career I wanted to go into, right from when I was choosing my degree.

So I was looking for opportunities to come into a business through a graduate scheme. What attracted me to the Bromford scheme was that there was the chance to do a full rotation in each team within the department. It meant that I would get the chance to experience all the different areas and then get to choose where I feel more comfortable and where I see myself working rather than just working in one team or on one project for two years. Bromford also offered me the chance to gain a further qualification as well which I will definitely be taking up.

I thought it was too good to be true but so far it has all been true.

What have you enjoyed about the role so far?

I’ve done so much already. Right at the start I helped with the physical moving of equipment from our old office and rolling out new tablets to engineers which they use to access their daily jobs. Then I joined the IT delivery tools and methods team where I was given work to

Then I put into the tools and methods team. That was really good, I was given work to do each week and then had to give presentations to the head of service every Friday, it was a bit like uni.

Now I’m in the service desk and responding to colleagues incoming calls and helping them fix the IT issues they are having so they can continue provide services to customers. As part of this I was given a project to roll out new phone to all colleagues using older devices which was great as I got to meet people from right across the business.

What advice would you give to applicants?

Everyone is very friendly at Bromford, so if you get the opportunity to shadow someone in another team you should take it, so you can learn more about what other people do in the business which can help you to then support them better when they come to you with an IT issue.

So, be open to anything, be open to learn more and experience and if there’s a chance to work with other people or other teams then you should take it.
